The Raising Free People Approach to Support Calls
After working with a handful of families transitioning out of schoolishness and into more partner-centered, decolonized practices at home, my mother and I have realized that we can offer support and insights without feeling pulled into a conventional coaching model.
The difference in words matter here, because what we're doing isn't giving you the steps or the answers, at all, because we don't do parenting boot camps or coaching. What we can do together is discern, notice and name things out loud, and create accountability and increasing confidence in your capacity to relate to (your) children and yourself differently that you have in the past.
Nor are they exclusively or people already embracing Self-Directed Education (SDE). My insights will most definitely draw on SDE principles. This is far more than an approach to learning, though! It's a mindset that takes away the one leader/savior/knowledge-keeper idea and replaces that with confident autonomy and a community/world approach to living.
I am happy to work with anyone who wants to shed old norms about what adult-child relationships should look like, or power dynamics in any relationship, but isn't quite sure how to go about that.
